You have probably visited social bookmarking sites like Reddit, Newsvine, Pinterest, StumbleUpon, etc. So when you find a link that you like, you can tag it and bookmark it to one of these sites for reference later. Plus, it allows you to share the link with others. You can also discover links that other people like and marked for reference.
Most social bookmarking sites have a number of categories varying from technology to business to sports topics. You can even consider social bookmarking sites as a type of search engine when you are looking for a specific topic.
That’s why I was so happy to have been told about Biz Sugar. I first learned about it in 2012, even though it was created in 2007.
This site is dedicated to small businesses. So you can use it to find topics about small business that pertain to you, but you can also share your own tips and information via this site. Others can vote, or give your post, “sugar.” The more votes a post gets, the more exposure it gets as it moves to the home page. People can also share posts on Twitter, Facebook, etc. so your posts and those of others can get more exposure.
At this point in time, I focus less on using these links for SEO only (because Google is smart and always changes the rules), and more on relationships and sharing content of true value and substance.
So be sure to check out the site as it can be another way to market yourself, while adding value to the community there.
