About a month ago, Tiffany Dow announced on her blog that a number of folks should take part in a 30-day vlogging challenge. I was slow getting on this, and I talk about why in my first video that I’ve done to be part of this challenge. It’s an introduction to who I am, and the struggles I feel as a mom, wife, business owner, and employee. I’m sure that not everyone can relate, but I’m sure there’s a lot of you who will!
You can watch it here. If you can relate (and even if you can’t 🙂 ), I’d love to hear from you!
Kim, first welcome to the challenge. I’m so very pleased to see you. 😀
Yes, I found that it’s easy to “forget” when days pass by. One thing that has been helpful for me, which I still need to do more frequently, is to have all the steps I’m going to take written down in check list format.
Then when I finish for the day and don’t get back to it for a few days, I can quickly look at the checklist and see the last thing I completed and just pick up from there.
Like I said, I don’t do it enough but when I remember it’s a big help.
Yes, exactly! That’s what I’m trying to do tonight, before I go to sleep. Otherwise, Thursday will be here again and I will have forgotten what I need to do next! And thanks for your video too, Minna. I chuckled when you were speaking into the webcam/camera, and saying it wasn’t too late to join the challenge. 🙂
Good for you for getting going on the vlogging challenge!! 🙂
I can totally relate to feeling overwhelmed. I homeschool my younger two children and so there are always kids around and I have those loss of momentum moments like you. And yes! My lists have lists too!! LOL!
I’m trying to think about next year and my hope is to set goals that are reasonable given my time and energy constraints.
Hi, Tiffiney,
Thanks for stopping by! I think the key is to set goals that fit your lifestyle. Otherwise, when that feeling of being overwhelmed sneaks in, it just results in total loss of productivity. At least, that’s the way it is for me.
So glad you decided to join us with vlogging! Great video. You are natural in front of the camera and everything!
My biggest problem tends to be other people not understanding that I am actually working at home. People call me or try to come over because I’m home assuming being home means I’m not busy. It’s really hard to explain it to people with regular jobs.
Hi, Amanda,
I smiled when I read your comment. I understand completely. My mom and dad owned their own business from home, and my mom always used to get volunteered by others for events since she was “at home.”
Welcome to the challenge Kim.
I feel that way sometimes. It used to be a lot worse. We homeschool so the boys(9&10) are home all day. So what I did was set a time in the day when I tell my family please don’t disturb because it’s work time. It works most of the time especially when I tell them it is rest time so at least the house is quiet for the time that they are relaxing in their bedrooms.
I totally admire homeschool moms. I agree that it helps to tell older children that you need some work time. I also do this, and tell them I’ll be available after a certain time.
