Some of you who have been around for awhile, may remember Picnik.com. That was one of my favorite sites as it’s where I went to do all my image resizing. When it was closed down, I knew I had better search around for another tool that did what Picnik did.
If you’re not familiar with what Picnik was, it was a website you could visit to make edits to your photos/graphics, etc. – cropping, image resizing, and so on. You could pay if you wanted to access more features.
Fortunately (thanks to my 12-year-old’s knowledge of what’s out there), I found a couple other free sites that are very similar to Picnik. The first one is Lightshot. I have created a quick demo video to see it in action here. You can download it for free, and it is also very useful for taking quick screenshots.
The other one is called Pic Monkey. It is a free online photo editor, and requires no downloads at all. You just visit the website, and do all your work there.
Lightshot and PicMonkey are what I use most often, but Pizap.com is another free online editor. You can make some neat facebook timeline covers, and use some nice backgrounds to create various projects. I believe that it is what I used when I made my Facebook timeline cover a few months ago.
I hope you find that helpful. If you know of any others, I’d love to hear from you.
Thanks for the suggestions, Kim! I use Gimp a lot, but there are times when an online editor would be more convenient.

Yes, that’s what I like about these free tools, Katie! They’re really quick to use, and make simple edits a breeze.
